The Thoracic Oncology Program is a world leader in clinical outreach, each year hosting symposia featuring the world's leading physicians, scientists and thought leaders. The Annual UCSF/UCD Thoracic Oncology Conference, co-chaired by David M. Jablons, M.D. and David R. Gandara, M.D. of UC Davis, is held annually in November. Inaugurated in 1999, it is the first and oldest conference of its kind. The Thoracic Oncology Program also co-hosts the annual UCSF Clinical Cancer Update, a conference held each winter at Squaw Valley near Lake Tahoe.
13th World Conference on Lung Cancer
UCSF and UC Davis were selected by the International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer (IASLC) to host the World Conference on Lung Cancer in 2009. This reflects the status of the Thoracic Oncology Program as a leader in clinical outreach.
